Cream one-half cup of butter with one cup of sugar, add three eggs, one
and one-half cups of flour, two teaspoons of baking-powder, mixed with
the flour, and one-half cup of milk. Mix well together; bake in a long
bread or cake pan, and have on top chopped almonds, sugar and cinnamon.

Quick Coffee Cake

Sift together twice one cup flour, one-half cup cornstarch, one-third

cup sugar, three level teaspoonfuls baking powder, a little salt and

one-half teaspoonful ground cinnamon. Mix to a soft dough with about

one-half cup milk stirred into a well-beaten egg. Add four

tablespoonfuls melted butter, spread in a shallow pan, sprinkle with

sugar mixed with cinnamon, and bake in a moderate oven.

Quick Coffee Cakes

Cream one-fourth of a cupful of butter, three-fourths of a cupful of

sugar, one egg; add one cupful of milk, two and one-half cupfuls of

flour in which two teaspoons of baking powder have been sifted. Beat

smooth, then add as many raisins as desired and bake in two pie tins.

When the top has begun to crust over, brush with melted butter and

sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Bake a golden brown.
