Old-fashioned Gingerbread Recipe

One tablespoon soda, one teaspoon pulverized alum, each in one-half

cup boiling water. Add one pint New Orleans molasses, one tablespoon

ginger, one-half cup butter. Mix soft, roll thin, and bake in a quick
